Ukrainian-born, Swiss-based visual artist and photographer, Julia weathered seismic shifts in her artistic journey from travel to contemporary mixed media. The early 2020s upheavels profoundly impacted her, leading to a metamorphosis in her photographic approach. Delving into contemporary photography, she seeks to comprehend the unfolding events around her and her role within them. Primarily a self-taught photographer with a background in marketing and art, Julia explores the endless citation and reinterpretation of "grand narratives" of postmodernism. Her subjects, ranging from travel and animals to studio work are the symbolic representations bordering on the dreamlike. Much like dreams encapsulate our daily concerns, future fears, and past memories, Julia's works possess simultenaously retrospective, contemporary and futuristic qualities. Julia’s works have been been published in various prestigious publications including The Guardian, The Times, and Le Figaro, amongst others. Her works received multiple international awards including International Photo Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, Sony World Photography Awards, and have been exposed across the globe.
