Surveillance: A Typology of Oppression" is a photography book by Valentyn Odnoviun that explores the use of surveillance as a tool of oppression, specifically within the context of former Soviet Union prisons. The book features 45 photographs of spyholes in former political prisons across Eastern and Central Europe (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, and Germany). These images, along with commentary by the artist and scholars, examine the relationship between surveillance, power, and the human experience.
