100 Women of Oxford
by Philippa James
100 Women of Oxford, published by The North Wall Arts Gallery, grew from one woman's passion to connect with others in her community. Seated in the intimate spaces of each woman’s home, photographer Philippa James listened to stories that spanned love and loss, politics, motherhood, climate change, dreams, disability, murder, sexuality, mental health, fear, imposter syndrome, social justice, family conflict, abuse, feminism, war, joy, death, and social inclusion, among countless other facets of the human experience. While each woman’s story is uniquely her own, the project reveals a shared longing for connection that unites us all. This photobook features 100 portraits, each paired with a text reflecting the conversations shared during their time together.
