PATRIA O MUERTE
It is a reformulation of the aesthetic paradigms that represent the revolutionary identities of Cuba and Venezuela. On one hand, iconographies are redefined, and on the other, there is a new approach to the materiality of the photographic archive. It allows navigating through the last years of declining revolutions without fear of clichΓ©s because it delves into a search grounded in ambiguity: what remains, what survives, what is remembered, and what is the present memory of an ongoing political transformation.
"Two words: existence cornered by a dilemma. Life with no other possibilities than to attack or defend a government. Santiago Escobar-Jaramillo now proposes a different perspective: two words and different images, capable of sabotaging all anthems, capable of helping us read reality differently. Little homeland and much death." (Alberto Barrera Tyszka)
