Heavy Clouds
Heavy Clouds is an intimate leap into the world of Vic Bakin’s photography. On 60 pages and compiled with lyrical excerpts, the artist goes back in time, dives into his archives and refines the practices, productions and concepts of his existing works. While reprinting old images, he instinctively applies acrylic paint on the images, poetically enhancing and frangibly embellishing the old, adding his very own new touch to it.
In this book, the artist tries to visualize his emotional experience of absence, depicting stains in his memories of those pictures as the acrylic paint and as an eternal and enduring method to create an everlasting manifest of his collected works throughout the years. Added poems and words by Serhii Rafalsky draw references and subtle sidetones to his creative practice and visual inspirations.
The picture book Heavy Clouds is a collaborative effort between Vic Bakin and RAM for Standard Deviation, the Ukrainian multidisciplinary label and offspring of non binary safe space ∄.
